About Us

The Colorado Space Grant Consortium is a state-wide program that provides Colorado students access to space through innovative courses, real-world hands-on satellite programs, and interactive outreach programs. We are funded by NASA as part of National Space Grant Program. There are 52 consortia in the National Space Grant program, with one consortium in each state, in addition to Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

Our vision...

Providing a diverse group of Colorado students with experiences in space to prepare them for our Nation's future space programs.

Our mission...

The COSGC uses the excitement of the nation's aeronautics and space program to inspires, educate, and develop America's future technological workforce by enabling a diverse community of college and university students to participate in space-based hands-on projects, courses, and outreach activities.

The COSGC involves 13 colleges, universities and institutions around Colorado. This year, the COSGC involves over 200 college and university students directly in our programs. The COSGC Education and Public Outreach program reaches hundreds of students and teachers each month. Many of our members teach space-related courses.

The COSGC main office is located in the Discovery Learning Center on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Shannon Dickson

Shannon Dickson is participating in the BS/MS program at the University of Colorado at Boulder and is pursuing degrees in Engineering Physics while minoring in Astronomy.  Shannon works for Colorado Space Grant as the DANDE thermal team lead. As Thermal lead Shannon uses an AutoCAD software package to model the spacecraft and its thermal environment in order to predict likely thermal conditions on flight.  Shannon has also done some work for the DANDE Science team on the Neutral Mass Spectrometer (NMS).  This spring Shannon will be studying abroad but plans to return to Space Grant.  After she graduates, Shannon hopes to work for a couple of years and ten return to school to pursue her Doctorate and one day apply to the astronaut core.  In her free time Shannon also likes to rock climb, bike-ride, and hike!
