  • THIS WORKSHOP WILL BE AMAZING!  If you want proof, look at the pictures from last year's workshop.  You will build a REAL sounding rocket payload then LAUNCH it on a two stage Terrier-Orion rocket (weather permitting).  The logistics associated with the RockOn Workshop are great and we need an accurate count on the number of participants before April 6, 2009.  Space is limited and your registration does not hold your spot until payment is received.  The $1,699 registration may seem large but it includes: a hot breakfast and lunch each day of the workshop, a special dinner on the last day, workshop handbook and DVD-ROM, a shirt, all RockOn payload materials, and launch costs.  Participants will work in teams of three.  Each team will build one RocketSat.  Participants pick their teams.  Each participant MUST be present on the first day (Sunday, June 21, 2009 10:30 AM) for the start of the workshop.  Please see the 2009 Travel Page for more information. 

    • The workshop is open to all interested with the following exceptions:

    1.  Participants MUST know how to solder and have practiced before attending the workshop.

    2.  Participants MUST be familiar with the C and/or C++ programming language.  After registration, a pre-workshop test will be sent and will be required to be successfully completed by each person before the workshop.  However, all the code is provided during the workshop so don't let this deter you from coming to the workshop.

    3.  Participants MUST be a U.S. citizen.  Due to security requirements at Wallops Flight Facility, U.S. citizenship is required.  If you are not a U.S. citizen, please contact Chris Koehler before proceeding.

    FINE PRINT

    The launch costs associated for the RockOn workshop launch are partially covered by launch fees paid by the RockSat 2009 payloads and support from NASA Education and Wallops.   In order to cover the costs associated with the workshop itself, at least 30 participants must be registered and paid in full by April 6, 2009.  If the number of participants is below 30 on April 6, 2009, we may have to ask for each person registered for a supplement to their registration fee (an additional $75 to $200).   This would be voluntary.   If requested before April 6, 2009, refunds will be made minus 10% for bank charges.  No refunds will be issued after April 6, 2009.  If you are not able to attend the workshop after submitting your registration fee and it is past April 6, 2009, you may send someone in your place.  We apologize for the necessity of this FINE PRINT but we have many up-front expenses in order to put this workshop on.  If you say you are coming, we will be spending money before you get here.  If you don't come, the money is already spent.  If you have any questions about these conditions, please contact me directly before submitting your registration.  I, Chris Koehler, can be reached at 303-492-4750 or by email by clicking here.  It is best not to make any airline ticket purchases before April 6, 2009.  We would recommend you make your hotel reservations as soon as your registration has been confirmed as space is very limited.
