2018 Wait List Registration

Workshop is currently sold out as of JAN 30, 2018 but we are accepting registrations to form a wait list.  I am still trying to find more spots at the workshop and will contact those on the waitlist as space becomes available.  Payment is not required for wait list registations.

Register by May 2, 2018

THIS WORKSHOP IS AMAZING!  If you want proof, look at the pictures from the workshops in 2008, 2009, 2010, 20112012, 20132014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.  You will build a REAL sounding rocket payload then LAUNCH it on a two stage Terrier-Orion rocket (weather permitting).  The logistics associated with the RockOn Workshop are great and we need an accurate count on the number of participants before May 2, 2018.  Space is limited and your registration does not hold your spot until payment is received.  The $999 registration ($899 if you register before March 22, 2018) may seem large (it was $1699 several years ago) but it includes: a hot breakfast and lunch each day of the workshop, a special dinner on the last day, workshop handbook, a shirt, all RockOn payload materials, and launch costs.  There is a ~5% fee charged for credit card payments.  Participants will work in teams of three.  Each team will build one RockOn payload.  Participants pick their teams and participants will decide how to divide up the provided hardware before the conclusion of the workshop.  Each participant MUST be present on the first day (Saturday, June 16, 2018 9:00 AM) for the start of the workshop.  Please see the Travel and Lodging Information for more information.

The workshop is open to all interested with the following conditions:

1.  Participants MUST know how to solder and MUST have practiced before attending the workshop.

2.  Participants MUST be familiar with the Arduino programming language.  All the code is provided during the workshop so don't let this deter you from coming to the workshop.

3.  Participants MUST be a U.S. Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident).  Due to security requirements at Wallops Flight Facility, U.S. Person status is required.  If you are not a U.S. person, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before proceeding.

4.  Workshop is designed for college students and college faculty.  If you are a high school student, you may attend the workshop but you will need to have a chaperon or mentor attend with you.

* Launch day is scheduled for June 21, 2018 but the back-up date is June 22, 2018.  Please plan accordingly.

FINE PRINT   You must be a classified as US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident) in order to attend the RockOn workshop.  There are no exceptions to this condition. If you are a high school student, you will need a mentor and/or chaperon to attend the workshop with you.  The registration fee associated for the RockOn workshop is being subsidized by launch fees paid by the RockSat-C and RockSat-X 2018 payloads.  In order to cover the costs associated with the workshop, at least 45 participants must be registered and paid in full by May 2, 2018.  If the number of participants is below 45 on May 2, 2018, we may have to ask for each person registered for a supplement to their registration fee (an additional $75 to $125).   This would be voluntary.   If requested before May 2, 2018, refunds will be made minus 10% for transaction fees.  No refunds will be issued after May 2, 2018.  If you are not able to attend the workshop after submitting your registration fee and it is past May 2, 2018, you may send someone in your place.  We apologize for the necessity of this FINE PRINT but we have many up-front expenses in order to put this workshop on.  If you say you are coming, we are spending money before you get here.  If you don't come, the money is already spent.  If you have any questions about these conditions, please contact me directly before submitting your registration.  I, Chris Koehler, can be reached at 303-492-4750 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..   It is best NOT to make any airline ticket purchases before May 2nd, 2018.  However, we would recommend you make your hotel reservations as soon as your registration has been confirmed as space is very limited.  The Refuge Inn is our official workshop hotel and we appreciate it when you give them your business.  A limited number of dorm rooms are available at Wallops for significantly less than most hotels.  More details are available on the travel page of this website. You made it to the end of the FINE PRINT.
