2022 Registration

As result of the COVID-19 pandemic, RockOn 2020 was cancelled.  Out of an abundance of caution, RockOn 2022 will be a virtual workshop as it was in 2021.  Participating teams will be sent kit hardware and any equipment needed to to complete their kit with their team or by themselves.  Teams and individuls will complete most of this workshop at their own pace but there will be live aspects to the experience.  See this year's agenda for reference.  If after reviewing these details you are still interested, please continue.

THIS WORKSHOP IS AMAZING!  If you want proof, look at the pictures from the workshops in 2008, 2009, 2010, 20112012, 20132014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 20182019 and 2020/21.  You will build a REAL sounding rocket payload then LAUNCH it on a two stage Terrier-Orion rocket (weather permitting).  The logistics associated with the RockOn Workshop are even greater now that it will be remote so we need an accurate count on the number of participants before FEB 15, 2022.  Space is limited and your registration does not hold your spot until payment is received.

We are changing things up this year.  Registration this year is based on sending a kit to a team of 3 people.  When registering, you are registering a team.  If you are a team of 1, your cost is the same as a team of 5.  Each team will receive 1 kit per registration.  The team/kit cost is $2,400, which works out to $800 per person for a team of 3.  Last year, it was $999 per person or ~$3,000 per team of three.  The kit will include all the equipment needed for your team to be successful.  There is a ~10% fee charged for credit card registration payments.

We have a limited number of kits due to global part shortages.  If all goes well, we will produce 60 kits.  The desired team size for each kit is 3 people.  Therefore we can accomodate ~180 people in this virtual workshop.  If you wish to have a larger team than 3, that is fine but only one kit per team will be sent.  Each team will receive their kit on or before April 15th, 2022.  Completed kits will need to be returned to Boulder, Colorado by May 27th, 2022.  All shipping is provided as part of the registration.  32 to 40 completed kits will fly on the rocket and 20 to 28 completed kits will be flown on the HASP flight.  See workshop info for more details on this.

The workshop is open to all interested with the following conditions:

1.  Participants MUST know how to solder and MUST have practiced before attending the workshop.

2.  Participants MUST be familiar with the Arduino programming language.  All the code is provided during the workshop so don't let this deter you from coming to the workshop.

3.  Workshop is designed for college students and college faculty.  If you are a high school student or faculty, please register but Chris will reach out to you with more details.

FINE PRINT   The registration fee associated for the RockOn workshop is being subsidized by program fees paid by the RockSat-C and RockSat-X 2022 payloads.  If requested before March 15, 2022, refunds will be made minus 10% for transaction fees.  No refunds will be issued after March 15, 2022.  If you are not able to attend the workshop after submitting your registration fee and it is past March 15, 2022, your will forfeit your paid fee.  We apologize for the necessity of this FINE PRINT but we have many up-front expenses in order to put this workshop on.  If you say you are participating, we are spending money before you do.  If you don't participate and the hardware is already shipped, the money is already spent.  If you have any questions about these conditions, please contact me directly before submitting your registration.  I, Chris Koehler, can be reached at 303-492-4750 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
