The Next How To Workshop

Travel and Lodging Information

Participants of the RockOn workshop are required to attend the first day of the workshop to participate in the weeklong workshop.  Participants need to be on-site on June 22, 2008 at 5:00 PM and plan to leave the site on June 28, 2008.  Although there are no activities planned on June 28, 2008, this is our backup launch date.  In addition, there are activities planned until the early evening on June 27, 2008.  Please read the remaining items on this page before booking your airline tickets.

The RockOn workshop will held at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.  There is no direct way to get to Wallops without a 1 to 2 hour drive.  It is recommended to fly into Norfolk International Airport and drive 110 miles northeast to Wallops.   You may also fly into Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport, which is only 60 miles from Wallops Flight Facility but has limited flight availability.  Please download directions below.   Participants will need a rental car.

The Wallops Flight Facility is very close to Chincoteague Island (a popular summer tourist location) and the Atlantic Ocean.  That said, lodging will difficult to find.  However, a block of rooms have been reserved for our group at the Refuge Inn.  The rate is $120 per night plus tax.  Please contact the Refuge Inn directly to make your reservations.  Your credit card will be charged a one night deposit at the time of your reservation.  Rooms must be reserved by April 30, 2008.  Please note, the Refuge Inn is closed for renovations until February 29, 2008.  They do have someone taking reservations but you may have to leave a message.
